The exceptional quality of A. Robert champagnes owes much to the unique terroir from which they come. Preserving the environment is seen as essential to the activity of the estate. And the meticulous attention to environmental practices also guarantees the protection of consumers.
The A. Robert Estate obtained the HVE (High Environmental Value) Level 3 certificate, which is its highest level. This official label, issued by the “Grenelle de l’environnement”, (a pan political environmental QANGO), measures actual results in four areas: biodiversity, fertilisation, pest control and water management.
The domain has, with the help of an environmental consultant, been engaged for several years in this displine and in fact has taken many concrete actions, including:
- Practicing sustainable winegrowing on the entire vineyard: establishing hedges, planting fruit trees near headlands, erecting small huts and walls in the vineyards. The acacia wood stakes come from the nearby Fossoy forest. Barrels are made with oak from French forests.
- Preserving soil quality, grassing the vineyards, reducing the use of chemical treatments. Using pheromones to limit the use of insecticides.
- Optimising water management, recovering rainwater, selective waste disposal and optimising energy consumption.
Finally, because all the grapes used to produce A. Robert champagne come from the estate, the traceability of the grapes can be 100% guaranteed.
