Jean de La Fontaine Museum at Chateau-Thierry – 10 minutes
away
Jean de La Fontaine was born here in 1621. It is obviously one of the
finest and oldest private mansions in the town. At one time the date
1559 could be made out on the facade.

The Chateau de Condé en Brie - 10 minutes away.
The seat of the Princes de Condé, this chateau became the country
seat of the Marquis de La Faye in the 18th century. This refined aesthete
invited famous painters of his day (Servandoni, Oudry, Watteau...) to
decorate the rooms of the chateau.

The American Monument - 15 minutes away.
Built in 1933 on “hill 204" 3 kilometers (2 miles) to the West of Chateau-Thierry,
the monument looks out for miles over the Marne Valley. It consists
of an imposing double colonnade, which dominate the landscaped surroundings.

Jean Racine museum - 20 minutes away.
The Jean Racine Museum was created in the house of his paternal grandmother
who raised him. Various documents, baptismal papers, busts, first editions
of his works, an autographed letter from Racine to his sister, and a
letter from his aunt Agnes, wooden statues, polychromes (15th and 16th
centuries) and a parchment signed by Henri IV (dismantling of the Chateau
of Ferté-Milon).

Alexander Dumas Museum - 35 minutes away
The museum is to be found in a large town house which is also home to
the Historical Society. Three ground floor rooms contain documents relating
to the three famous Dumas.
- General Dumas (1762-1806) (letters engravings and paintings)
- Alexander Dumas father (1803-1870), author of the “Three Musketeers”
- Alexander Dumas son (1824-1895), author of “The Lady of the
Camellias”
